What we never show. Court Day UK does not collect, store or display any individual's name, conviction, case, court listing or criminal record, and nothing on this site can be searched by person.
Why
- UK GDPR Article 10 and the Data Protection Act 2018: personal data about criminal convictions and offences may only be processed under official authority, and a comprehensive register of criminal convictions may be kept only under the control of official authority.
- Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974: many convictions become “spent”; publishing them can harm rehabilitation.
- Reporting restrictions, anonymity orders and defamation: individual case details carry legal risk and can be wrong.
What we do
We turn official, aggregated, openly licensed statistics into clear tables so anyone can see how the courts are performing: backlogs, outcomes and sentencing patterns by offence and region.
Accuracy
Every figure shows its source and period. If you spot an error, the original files from the publisher are the authority.
Contact, corrections and takedown
To report an error, ask for a correction or raise a takedown or legal concern, email corrections@courtday.uk. Please include the page address and the figure concerned. We aim to reply within 5 working days and will correct confirmed errors promptly.
Privacy
Visit counting: Court Day UK uses cuttr.co.uk, the site owner's own analytics service, to count page visits. It loads one small script from cuttr.co.uk that sends cuttr.co.uk the address of the page viewed, the referring page and your screen size. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser (no local storage), and it does not build a profile of you. It respects Do Not Track: if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, no visit is recorded. There is no advertising and no other third-party script. Like any website, our host (SiteGround) and cuttr.co.uk's server keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify or profile visitors. The share buttons are plain links: nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one. Postcode lookup: the postcode you type is sent from your browser straight to postcodes.io, and its approximate location to data.police.uk, to fetch results; Court Day UK's server never receives it and nothing is stored. Email alerts (not switched on yet) will use double opt-in and store only your email address and chosen topic until you unsubscribe; see how email alerts use your data.
